Choosing Color(s) That Look Best on You | Pittsburgh Senior Photos

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

Choosing the right colors that complement your skin tone, hair color, and eye color can enhance your appearance and make you look your best. Here are some tips to help you choose the color that looks best on you:

1. Determine your skin undertones: Your skin can have warm, cool, or neutral undertones. Warm undertones have yellow, peachy, or golden hues, while cool undertones have pink, red, or blue hues. Neutral undertones have a mix of warm and cool tones. To determine your undertones, you can look at the veins on your wrist. If your veins appear green, you likely have warm undertones, and if they appear blue, you likely have cool undertones. If you can't determine the color, you may have neutral undertones.

2. Know your best color palette: Once you've determined your undertones, you can choose colors from a color palette that complements your undertones. For warm undertones, earthy colors like browns, oranges, reds, and warm yellows may suit you well. For cool undertones, jewel tones like blues, purples, and emeralds, as well as cooler pastels, may be flattering. Neutral undertones may have more flexibility to wear both warm and cool tones.

3. Consider your hair and eye color: Your hair and eye color can also play a role in determining which colors look best on you. For example, if you have warm undertones and also have warm-toned hair (such as red, golden, or warm brown), you may find that warm colors complement you well. Similarly, if you have cool-toned hair (such as platinum blonde, black, or ash brown) and cool undertones, cooler colors may be more flattering on you.

4. Experiment with different colors: Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors and shades to see what looks best on you. You can try on clothes in different colors and hold them up to your face to see how they make your skin tone, hair, and eyes look. 5. Consider your personal style: Your personal style may also influence your color choices. Your style and preferences should also be taken into account when choosing colors that make you feel confident and comfortable.

Remember, these are general guidelines, and ultimately, the colors you choose to wear should make you feel confident and comfortable. It's also important to consider your own personal taste and style, as fashion is subjective and personal. Don't be afraid to experiment and have fun with colors to find what looks best on you and makes you feel your most confident and stylish self!
